APRIL 9th - The Colome Consolidated School District will be having a regular and special election.
MARCH 25th is the deadline for voter registration! If you have never registered to vote or if you have let your registration become inactive - please visit your county courthouse by 5:00 on March 25th to make sure you are eligible to vote in this election.
Voting polls will be located at:
Colome Fire Hall
Witten Post Office
Wood Community Center
Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
For the Regular Election, we have 4 candidates running for school board with 3 positions available. The following candidates are running for a 3 year term (you will vote for 3):
Pam Haukaas
Biran Jorgensen
Kevin Kingsley
Matthew Vandenbark
The Special Election is regarding the same reorganization plan that was voted on last June. This re-vote is in response to a petition brought forward by 20% of the Colome Consolidated School District taxpayers requesting to do so. A vote For the reorganization plan will dissolve the consolidated agreement between Colome, Witten, and Wood. The Mellette County land around Wood will become part of the White River School District, the Tripp County land around Witten will become part of the Winner School District, and the Tripp County land around Colome will remain Colome School District. A vote Against the reorganization plan will leave the consolidated agreement in place as it is today. Click below for a copy of the reorganization plan.
Absentee ballots are now available at the school.
Please contact Betsy Rohde at the school 605-842-0583 for more information on the election or to get an absentee ballot.
